In a video, she asked viewers struggling with “dry, dehydrated or textured skin in the winter” and claimed it could all be down to not properly hydrating your skin.

She continued: “I add this one affordable step to my skincare and it makes my skin look so plump, smooth, healthy. Immediately after cleansing, I apply a hyaluronic acid serum… and I make sure to apply it to damp skin so it can really draw in moisture.

“Hyaluronic acid has an amazing ability to bond with water molecules and retain moisture which is why it’s so effective at improving the moisture barrier, smoothing skin texture and improving the appearance of fine lines.”

Sarah added: “If you have oily, acne prone skin, hyaluronic acid can actually help with balancing the skin and controlling oil production. Hydrated skin feels healthy, products absorb better and skin overall just works better.”

The TikTok user recommended The Inkey List’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum which is available in a variety of sizes and starts at £9.

Many shared their thoughts in the comments section. One person said: “People forget how important it is to apply HA on damp skin!”

Another said: “Hyaluronic acid is one of my favourite skincare products, your skin is glowing,” but one person lamented: “Even with an HA serum my skin remains as drier as the Sahara desert.”

Someone else commented: “You have such clear skin,” while another said: “This will definitely help me out through the cold season. I mean, your skin looks so amazing.” Another added: “Oh the tip to use it on damp skin is great! Thank you!”

Whenever trying new products, it’s wise to conduct a patch test. Apply a small amount of the product to an area like the inner bend of your elbow or your wrist, and leave it on for 24 hours to check for allergies or sensitivities.

If you experience a negative reaction, like itchiness, burning, or your skin becomes flaky, be sure to stop using the product.
