Alejandro Garnacho has briefly opened up on the difficult period Manchester United have experienced in recent weeks and has left a promise in a social media post.

The 20-year-old made another substitute appearance off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday. Garnacho has recently had limited game time under Ruben Amorim, who dropped him from the United squad alongside Marcus Rashford for the Manchester Derby last month.

Despite deactivating his X (formerly Twitter) account just hours before United played Liverpool, Garnacho took to Instagram after the game. Sharing a couple of pictures, he wrote: “Good point at Anfield to start the year. The last few weeks have not been easy, but it’s good to start the year like this and try to build from this.”

The post prompted a response from the club, who simply posted a celebration emoji. The Reds’ performance at Anfield left Gary Neville pleased and he believes they must build on it.

“It’s the best performance I think under Ruben Amorim, maybe all season by a mile,” Neville told Sky Sports. “To come to Anfield, the best team in the league this year, it surpasses that victory at (Manchester) City the other week. City were in a bad moment and the way the game went, they were a little fortunate to get the victory. I thought United were magnificent from minute one. They fully deserved [the draw].”

United picked up a point at Anfield and climbed to 13th in the Premier League table. The Reds will be in FA Cup action next weekend, facing Arsenal at the Emirates.
