A planning application has been submitted to fell a mature sycamore tree in a Carlisle garden.
The application was filed by Mike Lowther to Cumberland Council late last month.

Mr Lowther has stated in the application that the tree has outgrown its environment and is causing significant issues.
According to the application, the sycamore is obstructing several BT service lines and severely restricting light to nearby properties.
It is also reported to have caused damage to outbuildings and fences on the property.
Photographs included in the application reportedly illustrate the extent of these issues.

A map has also been submitted to show the exact location of the tree and its relationship to surrounding properties.

Tree preservation orders are designed to protect trees with significant amenity value, and applications to remove such trees are assessed carefully by local authorities.
