BBC The Traitors fans ask ‘why’ as they spot problem minutes after Minah recruits Charlotte

The Traitors fans were all left asking ‘why’ after spotting a problem just minutes into the latest episode. Viewers of the hit BBC show tuned in on Thursday night (January 16) to find out Charlotte’s decision after being recruited as a traitor by Minah.

A tense roundtable on Wednesday (January 15) saw Linda receive the most votes, including one from her fellow traitor Minah, and was then forced to stand up and reveal she was in fact a traitor.

After Linda was caught out, host Claudia Winkleman told Minah she must recruit one of the faithfuls as a new traitor now that she was on her own.

Minah admitted to Claudia that she wanted another woman to join her as she strived for a strong team of ‘female traitors’. After debating between Frankie, Lisa and Charlotte, she chose Charlotte – who then received a letter asking her to head to the fire pit.

Viewers then had to wait until tonight to find out whether Charlotte would accept Minah’s plea to join her as a traitor, or decline and in turn, be murdered.

Just minutes in, the pair were stood around the fire pit when Minah took down the hood of her cloak and revealed herself as a traitor. Charlotte, who looked rather unamused, was then told of the ultimatum.

After pondering over the decision, Charlotte soon told Minah she accepted and would join her as a traitor. The pair then committed their first murder together, choosing Anna to ‘die’.

But fans picked up on a problem with Charlotte keeping her fake Welsh accent up, despite now being a traitor. When joining the show, Charlotte revealed that despite being from London, she would be putting on a Welsh accent to appear more trustworthy and friendly to her fellow contestants..

Addressing her new role as a traitor, Charlotte said in Thursday’s episode: “Apart from the fact I’m speaking everything in a Welsh accent, I am just being myself.”

But viewers were left confused as to why she was still keeping her Welsh accent up in front of Minah. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan @rozlaws asked: “Why is she still pretending to be Welsh? #TheTraitors,” as @RankedReal said: “I can’t believe she’s still here still pretending to be Welsh tbh #TheTraitorsUK #TheTraitors..”

@KingOfSunshine said: “Why is she keeping up the Welsh accent? #TheTraitors,” as @mrkphllps1 wrote: “Obsessed with Charlotte keeping her Welsh accent in front of Minah for literally no reason #TheTraitors,” and @d_mateer added: “You can drop the Welsh accent when you’re murdering… #TheTraitors.”

@DevilboyScooby also said: “I expected Charlotte to drop the Welsh accent in the turret, just for Minah #TheTraitorsUK #TheTraitors,” as @Davidnash71 asked: Why she still doing the Welsh accent #Thetraitors,” and @cat186 echoed: “I thought Charlotte would be able to drop her Welsh accent in the turret #TheTraitors.”
