The latest Bolton primary school to join an academy hopes the move will bring “exciting opportunities” for its pupils and staff.
Bolton Parish Church of England Primary School converted to academy status on Wednesday, January 8.
The Chadwick Street school has joined the Archbishop Temple Church of England Multi-Academy Trust.
It will be joining four other primary schools which are already in the academy, including Bishop Bridgeman CE Primary School and St James CE Primary School in Farnworth.
Cllr John Walsh, chairman of the academy trust, said: “We hope this will help Bolton Parish School progress from a good school into an even better school.
“It’s just taken some time because of the legal process.
“We welcome this opportunity to support and develop the school in line with the other schools in the trust.”
Bolton Parish Church Primary School said that they were “very pleased” to join and “excited” to work with a “talented and experienced team”.
In a statement, the school said: “We expect that this new relationship will provide an array of exciting opportunities for our children and staff and we know that we also have a lot to contribute.
“Having such strong links with other partner schools is well known to be beneficial to all and we look forward to what the future has to hold.”
St John’s Church of England Primary School in Farnworth also joined Archbishop Temple on November 1.
The move comes after other primary schools like St Teresa’s, Beaumont Primary and Lostock Primary also opted to join academies earlier this year.

Any school can apply to the Secretary of State to convert into an academy under the Academies Act 2010.
The existing school will close and an academy will open in its place, although little will appear to have changed.
The main benefit of joining a multi-academy trust is being able to collaborate with a large network of other schools.
