Brentford will be without five senior players for the Premier League clash against Liverpool on Saturday, while two fringe members of the squad are also ruled out.

The Bees head into the game on the back of Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City, when Brentford came from two goals down to secure a point. Another high-scoring affair is expected this weekend against the side best placed to take City’s crown.

Liverpool has scored more goals than any other sides in the Premier League this season with Brentford also one of just five top-flight teams on 40+ goals. Only six teams have conceded more than Thomas Frank’s side this term, and Brentford have been one of the most entertaining sides to watch.

Speaking ahead of the eagerly anticipated match, Frank said he expects to have the same squad available to face Liverpool as he had at his disposal against City.

“It’s the same squad as Tuesday,” the Dane revealed ahead of the match. “Everyone is available that was available for the Manchester City game. There are no new injuries.”

It means Brentford will be without Kristoffer Ajer, Ethan Pinnock, Aaron Hickey, Josh Dasilva and Igor Thiago once again on Saturday. Ryan Trevitt and Gustavo Nunes, who between them have played one Premier League match this season, are also unavailable.

Asked about the busy week of action, Frank added: “We train hard with high intensity every session… but then we need to manage the workload with how long we train with that high intensity, what kind of extensive drills we build in.

“We had a very high-output game on Tuesday night, which means we have been in the whole week, no days off. The whole group were in on Wednesday to recover; on Thursday it was a light session with some tactical bits, preparing for Liverpool; Friday will be light as well, with the squad hopefully feeling fresh and ready to go for Saturday.”

Brentford sits 11th in the table heading into the clash against Liverpool, just four points off the possible European spots. The Reds have won the last four meetings against the London club, including a 2-0 win at Anfield in August.
