Rescue teams were called out to assist with the transfer of a dialysis patient during a busy week for volunteers.
Rossendale and Pendle Rescue Teams assisted the ambulance service on Wednesday who were unable to access the property, near Bacup, to transfer the patient for an appointment.
A spokesperson said: “The team were deployed with both our Hilux and the tracked buggy due to previous knowledge of difficult access in previous years.
“On arrival the tracked buggy was utilised to make its way to the property, collect the patient and safely take them down to the awaiting crew who were waiting on a main road.”
It came during a busy week for the rescue teams who were called out eight times at the weekend.
Early on Thursday morning teams were contacted by Lancashire Police with a request to support Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (Official) to assist with an incident where a vehicle that had left the road on the tops above Briercliffe, Burnley.
Before the wake-up call was sent, it was confirmed that the fire service had been able to deal with the incident and they were no longer needed.
And walkers are being warned to stay clear of ‘false edges’ on Pendle Hill which have formed due to the heavy snow early this week.
A Rossendale and Pendle Rescue spokesperson said “A former teammate was out on Pendle Hill and spotted a substantial cornice has formed across the face of the hill on the steps and miners track side towards Barley.
“Cornices are formed ledges of snow which over time build to create a false edge where you most likely won’t be aware you could be walking until the cornice gives way and you fall through resulting in injury.
“We can’t stop you but as rain falls in the coming days along with freezing temperatures it will become heavier and as such unstable and gives little or not warning when it will collapse.
“Respect it and take pics but keep yourself and loved ones safe above all without taking risks.”
