Ivegill CE Primary School in Carlisle is celebrating after receiving their report from the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS).
The school was praised for its ‘strong Christian ethos, positive relationships, and commitment to pupil wellbeing.’
Headteacher Matthew Trickett expressed his pride in the school’s achievements, saying: “We’re thrilled that SIAMS has recognised the fantastic work of our whole school community.
“Our vision is to let every child’s light shine, and we truly believe that Ivegill provides the perfect environment for this to happen.”

According to the report, ‘the school is at the heart of the local community’.
Staff members are ‘passionate and determined’ to create a ‘nurturing environment where every pupil feels valued and supported.’
The school’s focus on building positive relationships between staff, pupils, and parents has fostered a ‘strong sense of community.’

The SIAMS report highlighted the school’s commitment to its Christian values and stated that ‘the Christian vision binds the school together.’
This vision, ‘Let Your Light Shine,’ is regarded as ‘evident in all aspects of school life’, and pupils are encouraged to develop their faith through regular acts of worship, prayer, and reflection.
Strong links with the local church ‘further enrich the pupils’ spiritual journey’, while the curriculum at Ivegill is designed to ‘inspire and challenge pupils.’

Students, such as the year six pupils, take on mentoring roles, ‘eagerly supporting’ younger children.
Finally, the report states ‘strong, effective and enthusiastic leadership in religious education (RE) ensures the subject is well-led and well-resourced.’
However, the report identified some areas for improvement, such as providing more opportunities for pupils to respond to spiritual moments within the curriculum and extending their focus beyond the local community.

According to the report, Ivegill CE Primary School in Carlisle is committed to its Christian values, and this vision ‘binds the school together’, encouraging both adults and pupils to ‘let their light shine’ through words and actions.
The governing body is focused on the vision, using it to guide their decision-making and support the school’s future.
Collective worship is a ‘vital part’ of school life, creating a ‘joyous yet reflective celebration for pupils’, which is ‘thought-provoking, and moments of silence and reflection enhance personal spirituality.’

The school celebrates individual achievements during ‘Let Your Light Shine’ worship every Friday, promoting a sense of pride among students.
