The incident at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport occurred at about 9:05 a.m. local time on Friday, the US Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement on its website announcing the probe.
The Boeing Co. 757-300 was headed to Minneapolis with 201 passengers and seven crew members on board, Delta said in a statement. Customers were transported back to an airport building by ground transportation. The incident occurred shortly before all five of the airport’s runways were closed due to an unexpectedly strong winter storm.
“Delta’s crew followed established procedures to suspend the takeoff of flight 2668” after the indication of an engine problem, the airline said in a statement. There is no indication the flight was affected by the weather, Delta said.
Four passengers suffered minor injuries, the airport said in a post on social media platform X. One person was taken to a hospital while three were treated on scene.
The US National Transportation Safety Board, which investigates aviation accidents, is monitoring the situation but has not launched an official probe, the agency said in a statement.
