A supplier of natural building products in Carlisle has appointed a new sales manager.
Ecological Building Systems has given the role to Martyn Hornsby.
Mr Hornsby’s responsibilities include managing the sales office team and overseeing customer service functions such as quoting, ordering, and deliveries.
His responsibilities also extend to customer care, including the management of key accounts for contractors, merchants, stockists, homeowners, and self-builders.
To fulfil these responsibilities, he will need to collaborate with businesses to provide accurate information to customers.
Mr Hornsby has sales and management experience from his previous work for multiple high street retailers in senior roles, as well as recruitment experience.
He placed staff for construction clients, including Ecological Building Systems and the third sector, during this time.
Having met some of the directors of Ecological Building Systems, he applied for the sales manager role when it was created.
He then went on to complete company-provided training designed to prepare customer-facing staff on how to respond accurately and effectively to customer inquiries.
Lorna Graham, deputy general manager of Ecological Building Systems, said: “We had known Martyn for some time and he has a proven track record in managing teams and working both with consumers and large commercial customers.
“Demand for natural building materials is high and, as our enquiries grow every month, Martyn is playing a key role in driving forward sales and enhancing our customer experience.”
Mr Hornsby said: “I am really enjoying my role at Ecological Building Systems.
“I work closely with key customers and the technical team, to ensure any queries are dealt with effectively.
“It is exciting to be part of a team where people are passionate about sustainable building products.”
Ecological Building Systems was established in 2000 in County Meath, Ireland, before it expanded to the UK in 2007.
The company recently doubled the size of its premises, acquiring a new warehouse and office unit adjacent to its existing facilities in Carlisle.
Within the new premises, the company has a showroom open to self-builders, home renovators, and professionals to demonstrate its range of natural building products.
