LOCAL emergency services have been thanked following their response to a ‘Carbon Monoxide incident’ in Penrith.
This comes after Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident following reports of a gas leak at Little Dockray, Penrith at around 7pm on Thursday, January 16.
Cumbria Police were also called to the reported incident at 7:29pm.
In addition, Network Gas and North West Ambulance Service attended the incident that saw emergency services check house to house to ensure no harmful gas was present.
(Image: Supplied) A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At 7pm last night, Cumbria Fire and Rescue were called to a reported Carbon Monoxide incident at Little Dockray, Penrith.
“This was following a Carbon Monoxide Alarm being triggered.
“Cumbria Fire and Rescue worked with Network Gas, Cumbria Constabulary, and the Ambulance Service, and sequentially went through each property to ensure that there was no carbon monoxide present.
“Cumbria Fire and Rescue thanks all services for their help and support in dealing with the incident.”
The incident led to closures being imposed on Penrith’s Devonshire Street, Corn Market, and King Street, and one male was taken to Cumberland Infirmary as a precaution.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue also encouraged members of the public to have working detectors for any solid fuel or heating appliance.
They said: “This reminds the public of having carbon monoxide and smoke alarm detectors for any solid fuel or heating appliance.”
