The family of a café owner with cancer are fundraising to take her to get pioneering treatment in Germany.
46-year-old Eva Nann, who runs the Silly Goose café in Whitehaven, was described by her spouse as ‘the amazing Polish girl that makes delicious cakes along with amazing food’ on the JustGiving fundraiser.
The fundraiser has a target of £16,000, of which £6545 has been raised at the time of reporting.

Mrs Nann’s spouse’s statement reads: “All she does is live for her family and little business in Whitehaven.
“She has devoted her life to her shop and making people smile.
“Unfortunately, Eva was diagnosed with recurrent cancer two weeks ago, what a start to 2025 that was.
“Even worse she was told that her tumour is very aggressive and spreading at an alarming rate.
“Eva had previously beaten cancer a few years back, and we were devastated to hear it had returned, much worse than last time.
“Myself, Maya, and Julia, family and friends are totally devastated at Eva’s diagnosis as we all love her so much.
“Eva is due to have more palliative chemotherapy in the coming days if she is well enough to tolerate more chemotherapy.
“We are now fundraising to have her treated privately at a clinic in Europe.”
The treatment and travel is costly, however, as they added: “I am prepared to sell my house and use everything I have so Eva may undergo this revolutionary treatment as it is the right thing to do.
“The treatment is very expensive, absolutely anything towards that would help us a great deal.
“If possible please help and support us in raising money to pay for life-saving cancer treatment for the Silly Goose, if not even a good luck wish would mean so much to us all.”

Eva started the shop with Magda Gabinet right before the pandemic in January 2020, with ambitions of offering something “different to your usual takeaways” in England.
In 2022 they helped raise funds and collect donations to help Ukrainians after Russia invaded the country.
