Full list of UK areas where it could snow on Tuesday as more Met Office warnings issued

The UK has experienced a cold snap of weather over the first week of the new year, with widespread disruption across the country.

On New Year’s Eve, there was heavy rain across the UK, which led to major flooding in the Greater Manchester region, which was followed by freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall.

Large parts of the country have experienced disruption caused by the weather including road closures, risks to health due to the cold, school closures, and delays and cancellations at airports across the UK.

The Met Office has issued several yellow weather warnings, with three yellow snow and ice warnings in place across the UK on Tuesday, January 7.

One snow and ice warning, which is in place from 4pm Monday until 12pm on Tuesday and covers most of Scotland including Grampian, Strathclyde, and Orkney and Shetland islands.

Northern Ireland has been issued with a yellow snow and ice warning from 3pm on Monday and will remain in place until 11am on Tuesday.

And a final warning is in place affecting the south of England, north west England, south west England, West Midlands and Wales. The warning begins at 5pm on Monday and remains in place until 10am on Tuesday morning.

By Wednesday there one weather warning of snow will remain, affecting the very south of the country, including Brighton, Devon, Cornwall and Bath, and comes to an end at 23:59 pm on Wednesday evening.

The Met Office has warned that “Icy stretches and sleet/snow showers developing overnight, bringing some disruption, especially to travel.”
