Gary Neville was so desperate for Manchester United’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday not to go ahead that he shoveled snow back onto the pitch at Anfield.
The Red Devils legend has made his concerns clear about Ruben Amorim’s out-of-form Man Utd facing Liverpool on enemy territory. Arne Slot’s men are topping the Premier League with just one defeat to their name.
The Reds are rocking and rolling on all fronts, topping the Premier League and Champions League group stage, as well as having an EFL Cup semifinal to look forward to and an FA Cup campaign yet to start.

Meanwhile, Man Utd have lost their last four games in a row, with their most recent defeat being a 2-0 home loss to Newcastle. New boss Amorim, who replaced Erik Ten Hag mid-season, has won just four games in 11 while losing six.
Sunday’s meeting between the two legendary Premier League rivals was at risk of being snowed off, but a change in weather and hard work at Anfield saw staff clear the snow off the pitch, much to Neville’s disappointment.
Neville took a shovel and threw snow back onto the pitch, but Liverpool legend and Sky Sports colleague Jamie Carragher had the perfect response. Carragher re-scooped the snow and launched it back at Neville on the touchline.
The ex-England and United right-back had already expressed his fear of heading to Anfield following the Red Devils’ defeat to Newcastle. “Do we have to go to Anfield on Sunday?” joked Neville. “Do you remember in the old days when Sunday League teams wouldn’t turn up because they said the traffic was bad or a few players were unwell?

“Obviously, joking aside, I’ve no idea how they approach this game on Sunday. Manchester United have found this fixture very tough in recent years. The 7-0, I was there watching it to the bitter end like many Manchester United fans were. You’re fearing not necessarily of that, but you’re wondering what Ruben Amorim can do? He can point to the Manchester City performance, but I genuinely don’t know.”
Amorim’s belief that his players are “anxious” and “afraid” wouldn’t have boosted Neville’s confidence. “They are anxious, sometimes afraid on the pitch. We have to cope with that,” he said.
“We need the leaders to step up to help the other guys and I’m the most responsible person here to improve the performances,” he added. “You can see the players are trying, sometimes too anxious, too afraid to play football because this is a difficult moment and we will help the players to be better.”
