Good Morning Britain fans have complained the show has “gone down the toilet” after a “cringe” interview with actor Sam Neill that aired on Wednesday (January 8).
Viewers blasted hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls for continuing to ask the legendary actor the same questions over and over again. Annoyed online users could not withhold their dismay and took to the platform X – formerly Twitter – to slam the discussion.
Folk seemed to share the same view that the two presenters kept quizzing Sam over the names of his pet chickens. Many fans claimed they had already heard about this topic during the programme before.
One angry internet sleuth penned: “Ed Balls absolute cringe worthy ‘interview’ with the legend that is Sam Neill. Asking him about chicken FFS #gmb.” Another shared the same opinion, chiming in with: “This show has gone down the toilet!” (sic)
A third complained: “Yes Ed, sam neill names his pets after actors we get it move on!#gmb.” (sic)
“We’ve heard about the chicken before this is not new, switching off,” one more wrote.

Before the interview had even kicked off, Ed was already gearing up to quiz the icon over his beloved pets – and couldn’t wait to delve into their names.
Turning to Susanna, Ed said: “He’s got a chicken named Keira?” A bit taken back by his probe, Susanna gasped: “What?”
Her co-host then went on to explain: “You know, after Keira Knightley. He has a whole host of chicken’s named after famous actors.”
Susanna and Ed interview actor Sam Neill
Sam appeared on the screen and, within seconds after their on-air introduction, Ed wanted to know all about his birds, possibly to prove a point to his on-air partner.
Later, as the interview went on, the conversation about his chicken’s continued, much to fans’ annoyance.
Sam didn’t seem to mind the animal probe
The trio had been chatting about the movie star not landing a part in a James Bond production – despite having been part of a pilot scheme and going through the interviewing process.
They’d show a clip that the star, who is probably best known for his role as Dr Grant in the iconic film, had not seen before. After the snippet had finished playing, Ed and Susanna were miffed as to why Sam didn’t get the part in the film, telling him: “They were wrong. You were really good.”
At this point, the conversation swang back to his farmyard animals again, as Ed asked: “Do you have a chicken or pig or a cow named Sean Connery? Or other James Bond superstars?”
Continuing his line of questioning, the host went on: “I wonder what animal you would choose to be the James Bond actor, because that would have been one of the roles you didn’t get even though you were so close.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1, from 6am.
