It wasn’t too long ago that Chelsea was being dubbed Liverpool’s biggest challenger in the title race, but the Blues have picked up just two points from their last four matches and could end this week’s round of fixtures outside the top four if they don’t beat Bournemouth.
In fairness to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, he always maintained that his young side was not in a title race — many of just didn’t listen.
Chelsea returned to winning ways with a 5-0 win over Morecambe in the FA Cup, but in Bournemouth the Stamford Bridge club welcomes a team that has not lost any of its last nine matches, which is a run that stretches back to November.
