A woman has shared how she grew her hair to waist length after struggling with androgenic alopecia.
The hair loss researcher and training trichologist @sofiahairhealth explained that she “hardly had any hair a few years ago,” despite the fact her hair looks long, thick and healthy now. “These are the tips and tricks that you need to live by if you want hair like this,” Sofia said.
Over the top of her video, she wrote: “How to grow your hair very long quickly,” as she explained that consistency is the most important thing when you’re undertaking these three key steps.

The first tip Sofia gave was to “stimulate blood flow [to your scalp] every day,” because this is “what causes new hair growth”.
She said that an “easy way of doing this” is to use minoxidil, which can be used to treat pattern hair loss. “When blood goes to your scalp, it takes oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles, making them stronger, putting them in the anagen phase, which is the growth phase, and allowing you to have thicker hair as well,” she explained.
She said that minoxidil is “not the only way,” so if you’d prefer to try something else, she also recommended dermarolling your scalp, scalp massages, and caffeine treatments.
“Now the most important thing is that you do this every day,” regardless of which method you use, according to Sofia. She continued: “If you do this once or twice a week, it’s not gonna work. You have to be stimulating blood flow consistently and continually for the hair to grow.”
The second piece of advice she gave was to “reduce inflammation on your scalp” because if you experience inflammation, you’ll experience “more shedding, you’ll have weaker, thinner, brittle hair, and you’re also going to have a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus”. For this, you can use a specific shampoo called Ketozolin to “reduce inflammation and stop shedding.”
The final piece of advice Sofia gave was to “never go to bed with wet hair,” because your hair is at its weakest when wet, so if you go and sleep on wet hair, it can cause breakage thanks to the friction against the pillow.
She said that to get the length, you need to keep the health of the ends of the hair. Otherwise, you’ll need to “cut it off quicker,” so while you want new growth, you also want to retain the long hair you already have. “It’s about growth, but it’s also about length retention,” she clarified.
Sofia also said that it’s important to use a shampoo and conditioner that will keep your hair “soft,” as if the hair becomes “brittle, it will just snap and break”.
Of course, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to hair growth, and if you’re struggling, you should consult your GP.
