Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is “proud” of where he is currently at in his career amid his recent upturn in performance levels.
Maguire produced a colossal display in United’s FA Cup third round win over Arsenal on Sunday, helping them prevail on penalties to book a fourth round date with former club Leicester City next month. The England international has started each of United’s last five matches, benefitting enormously from head coach Ruben Amorim’s decision to morph United into a team that plays with three central defenders.
Maguire regularly shone for England in a three-at-the-back formation and his recent performances have attracted plenty of praise, not least his showing against Arsenal at the weekend. Recently surpassing 600 appearances in senior football, the 31-year-old is pleased with how things are going at the moment.

“Yes, I’m really enjoying it,” said Maguire, speaking in the latest edition of Inside United. “Over 600 games, that’s a lot, to be honest. I look after myself on and off the pitch. I try and do everything right.
“Obviously, I picked up a little injury this season, but I feel like I worked hard during my rehab and I came back in really, really fit and fresh and mentally and physically ready.
“Yes, I feel in a real good place and have been now for 18 months, so I’m proud of where I’m at. I’m proud to play for this club. It’s a huge honour, a huge responsibility, and I just want to now focus on the team and bringing back more happy memories for our fans.”
Maguire will be hoping to retain his spot in the heart of the back-three when United welcome Southampton to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Thursday evening.
