An artsy property has left house hunters divided after being put on the market. The two-bed terraced house in West London’s Southall district has caught the eyes of many Rightmove users – but some for the wrong reasons.
Listed for sale at £430,000, the house certainly stands out amongst its neighbours with its decorative and colourful exterior. Its patterned brick walls continue inside into its unique mosaic hallway, kitchen, lounge and bathroom, whilst few rooms have been left plain.
Not a sight for the minimalist home-lovers, the chain-free home is listed as being in a ‘great location’, but is ‘in need of modernisation’. Marketed by estate agents haart, Greenford on Rightmove, the listing reads: “Captivating at first glance, this home is a testament to creativity and ingenuity, embodying the very essence of its eclectic surroundings.

“Step inside to discover space and ingenuity, where every corner whispers tales of artistic flair. Upstairs, two large double bedrooms await, offering serene sanctuaries for rest and relaxation, complemented by a well-appointed bathroom.”
Colourful mosaic tiles span the house
It continues: “Downstairs, a fusion of vibrancy and functionality unfolds with two inviting reception rooms beckoning for lively gatherings. The kitchen, in need of updating is located toward the rear backing out to the private garden.
“Outside, the garden invites a tranquil escape from the bustle of urban life. While off-street parking may be absent, the allure and opportunities of this abode is boundless, offering a gateway to the vibrant tapestry of Southall’s cultural landscape.
“Experience the epitome of UB1 living, where every corner is a canvas, and every moment is a masterpiece. Embrace the opportunity to own not just a home, but a local landmark – where art, architecture, and community converge in harmony.”

A Reddit user shared the Rightmove listing onto the social media platform, with the post then flooded with a mixed bag of comments. Responding to the house, @LftAle9 wrote: “I honestly love it. If I had the artistic ability, the daring and disposable income, I think it would be such a cool lifetime project to develop it further. There are normal floors and ceilings all over, a few blank rooms too – so much potential to build around what’s there and completely fill the space.”
@Memes_Haram agreed: “Tbh I feel like this house is a bit of a work of art and should be listed,” as @BrokenIvor said: “There’s nothing nicer than an interior that is full of life and creativity. The person that lived there had an open heart and a love of colour. A joyful house! Bravo.”

Another Reddit user wrote: “I absolutely love it. I’m sorry. But I do!,” as @avemango added: “I absolutely love it to be honest, it should be preserved as an outsider art house.”
But some people were of the opposite opinion. @Meadow_Edge expressed: “I seem to be the only one who hates it. The inside isn’t art, if it is its badly done. The tiles have just been stuck on in a ‘use what we can collect for free/cheap for as we go along’ kind of way. It’s truly dreadful.”
@Even_Passenger_3685 commented: “It makes me itchy,” as @ringerrosy wrote: “I’d hate to have that next door to my house,” and @Metal-Lifer said: “must be what living in a migraine is like.” One Reddit user then wrote: “I’m not sure if I love it or hate it,” as @WoollyMamatth added: “I couldn’t look past the 2nd picture.”
