ITV Good Morning Britain turns awkward as guest calls out ‘baffled’ Ed Balls

Good Morning Britain turned awkward on Monday as Ed Balls was called out by a guest for looking ‘baffled’.

During the latest instalment, Ed, 57, and Susanna Reid spoke to comedian Jenny Eclair amid her current tour.

However, during the interview, things took an awkward turn when Jenny called out Ed for not getting one of her jokes.

After telling the gag, Jenny, 64, said: “Ed’s looking a bit blank, I don’t think he got that joke!” prompting the comedian to repeat it again.

However, Ed didn’t get the joke again to which Susanna, 54, quipped: “Let’s hope you don’t have to explain the other jokes!” while Ed joked: “I can’t wait to come [to the tour].”

To which Jenny said: “No, please don’t, and if you do, please sit at the back so I can’t see your baffled little face.

“I don’t mind, sometimes you get some people who have great faces for watching comedy and then there’s people like Ed, who just go: ‘Oh, what? What, I don’t get?'” as Jenny repeated the joke again.

However, this prompted Ed to admit: “To be honest, I’ve no idea what’s going on. Where am I?”

Following the interview, Jenny took to Twitter, now X, to write: “Job jobbed! I told a joke that Ed didn’t understand! Not my finest TV moment- ha!”

Elsewhere on Monday’s show, Good Morning Britain host Susanna and her co-host Ed announced breaking news.

During the latest programme, Susanna and Ed were talking about the latest headlines, which included the launch of Jeff Bezos’ rocket.

However, during the reporting, Susanna revealed that Bezos’ rocket launch had been delayed as a breaking news banner appeared on screen.

Susanna said: “This is the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, it’s a Blue Origin rocket. It’s due to be launched, it’s already been delayed twice, it’s now been delayed for a third time this morning.

“This is after years of setbacks but apparently this is a new phase in the commercial space market. The hope is that the rocket will compete with Elon Musk’s SpaceX project.”

However, following the report, Susanna had a ‘breaking news’ update as she added: “Very good, it is expected to launch in 12 minutes time, oh, 32 minutes, I thought it was 7:27am. Oh, it’s been delayed again!”

To which a breaking news banner appeared on Good Morning Britain, saying: “Breaking news: Jeff Bezos rocket launch delayed.” Later on the show, Good Morning Britain had more breaking news as they revealed Bezos’ rocket launch had been called off.

Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on both ITV and ITV X.
