ITV Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid halts show to announce ‘breaking news’

Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and her co-host Ed Balls announced breaking news during Monday’s show.

During the latest programme, Susanna, 54, and Ed, 57, were talking about the latest headlines, which included the launch of Jeff Bezos’ rocket.

However, during the reporting, Susanna revealed that Bezos’ rocket launch had been delayed as a breaking news banner appeared on screen.

Susanna said: “This is the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, it’s a Blue Origin rocket. It’s due to be launched, it’s already been delayed twice, it’s now been delayed for a third time this morning.

“This is after years of setbacks but apparently this is a new phase in the commercial space market. The hope is that the rocket will compete with Elon Musk’s SpaceX project.”

However, following the report, Susanna had a ‘breaking news’ update as she added: “Very good, it is expected to launch in 12 minutes time, oh, 32 minutes, I thought it was 7:27am. Oh, it’s been delayed again!”

To which a breaking news banner appeared on Good Morning Britain, saying: “Breaking news: Jeff Bezos rocket launch delayed.”

It comes as Susanna recently broke her silence on her lengthy absence from Good Morning Britain.

In early December, Susanna expressed her gratitude to viewers and revealed that she would be stepping away from the show for a substantial holiday hiatus.

However, after a three-week absence, Susanna informed her followers last week that she would be returning to television screens once again on Monday 6 January.

She took to Instagram to share a cosy snap of a flickering candle, captioning it: “Happy New Year! See you on Monday.”

Susanna also revealed she had undergone a new look during her break as she shared a selfie of herself with longer hair.

The presenter penned: “NEW YEAR NEW HAIR! After having THE CHOP in 2023, pop idol Cher told me women should keep their long hair so I am turning back time and going LONG for 2025 with hair extensions put in by @christinabhair. Let me know what you think – and see you tomorrow @gmb.”

During her festive break away from Good Morning Britain, Kate Garraway filled in for Susanna, presenting alongside Richard Madeley.

Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on both ITV and ITV X.
