The highly anticipated Liverpool vs. Manchester United clash is going ahead as scheduled after a second meeting of Liverpool City Council’s Safety Advisory Group, but the club put special measures in place.
Heavy overnight snowfall in the North West of England had cast doubt over the fixture, with concerns about the safety of fans traveling to and from the stadium. An initial meeting on Sunday morning failed to reach a definitive conclusion, prompting the group to reconvene later in the day to reassess the situation.
Liverpool confirmed in a statement just before midday UK time that the game will go ahead as scheduled, urging fans travelling to Anfield to take care.

Workers outside the stadium were pictured shovelling snow on Sunday morning in a bid to help ensure the area outside the stadium was as safe as possible for supporters to walk on, establishing designated paths around the ground to keep people safe.
Attention now turns to on-field matters as Liverpool seek a victory that would propel them eight points clear of second-placed Arsenal at the summit of the Premier League table.
