Maharashtra Board Announces HSC, SSC Exams To Commence 10 Days Earlier Ahead Of Schedule

Mumbai: With the Maharashtra State Board exams fast approaching, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE ) has announced that the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams will commence 10 days earlier than their usual schedule.

The board has advanced the exam schedule to address multiple objectives, including ensuring timely results and facilitating a smooth start to the next academic year, informed MSBSHSE chairman Sharad Gosavi. The decision also aims to provide additional preparation time for students appearing for competitive entrance exams such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Talking to the FPJ, Gosavi explained the rationale behind the change, stating, “We are starting both exams earlier to give HSC students more time to prepare for competitive exams, helping them compete on an equal footing with students from non-state board curricula,” he said.

The earlier schedule will also lead to quicker results, ensuring timely admissions for Class 11 students and higher education aspirants. Gosavi added, “This adjustment allows us to hold supplementary exams sooner, enabling students who need a second attempt to continue their education without losing time,” Gosavi added.

The board chief also mentioned that schools across the state were consulted about the decision and were asked if they had any objections. According to him, no objections were raised by the schools, paving the way for the change to be implemented.
