Man rescued by firefighters after “falling down large slope”

A man has been taken to hospital after falling down a large slope in Bury this afternoon.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at Stockton Drive in Bury shortly after 1:30pm this afternoon (Sunday January 5th) with three fire engines from Bury, Whitefield and Bolton Fire Stations.

The Technical Response Unit from Ashton were also called to reports of a person needing rescue after falling down a large slope near Stockton Drive.

Crews arrived quickly and used specialist rescue equipment to bring the person to safety. They were transferred to the care of North West Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for the GMCA said: “Shortly after 1:30pm this afternoon (Sunday 05 January), three fire engines from Bury, Whitefield and Bolton Fire Stations, along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton were called to reports of a person needing rescue after falling down a large slope near Stockton Drive, Bury.

“Crews arrived quickly and used specialist rescue equipment to bring the person to safety. They have been transferred to the care of North West Ambulance Service.

“Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour and a half.”
