A burglar targeted university students in Manchester city centre and ransacked their apartments after using a false identity. Boris Danso was unmasked through CCTV enquiries after students reported their flats had been targeted.
One of the victims had reporter to university security that they had been burgled. Danso was later seen on CCTV cameras testing the door handles of numerous accommodation buildings.
Later that same day, he returned and entered one of the accommodation blocks under a false identity. He stole £1,000 cash from two rooms that he entered and had ransacked the accommodation whilst searching for cash and valuables.

He returned later that night just before midnight and attempts to gain entry for a third time into the accommodation but the card he was attempting to use was cancelled by security staff after they had phoned the police.
Danso was arrested on August 6 last year, after a police officer attended the university to collect evidence and on their way back to the station, spotted a man who they believed to be Danso.
He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and was later charged. Following an investigation, Danso, 33, of Jevington Walk, was jailed for three years following a three-day trial at Liverpool Crown court.

Detective Constable Lauren Roach of GMP’s Manchester Central Neighbourhood team, said: “It was clear Danso planned and executed these burglaries at student accommodation in Manchester, he used false identification and authority to enter into the university.
“CCTV enquiries quickly led to the identification of Boris Danso as a suspect and it was a great arrest as we managed to spot him walking on the street and swiftly arrested him. Danso knowingly stole items that didn’t belong to him, and for the victims, this was a frightening ordeal when they learned that Danso had been in their accommodation.
“I hope it provides some comfort for the victims, and those in the accommodation to know that Danso was the man responsible for this and that he is now safely behind bars.
“As a team, not only do we act and investigate when neighbourhood crimes are reported to us, we also spend a lot of time out in the community educating people prevent burglaries from happening the first place.
“Although we have officers and staff working hard to detect and deter burglars, we want to hear from you. If you have any information about recent burglaries in your area, please get in touch, no piece of information is too small. With your help we can reduce the number of burglaries happening in Greater Manchester even further.”
