Manchester United’s rivals are reportedly confident their co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to sell Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford to strengthen the club’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) stance.
According to The Telegraph, the trio are believed to be up for sale in the remaining three weeks of the January window as opposed to the end of the season. This is to avoid United having to make frantic deals before the June 30 PSR deadline.
As such, United’s rivals, who are thought to hold interest in the trio, are beginning to circle. Chelsea are believed to be admirers of Mainoo while Arsenal have previously been linked to Rashford.

While United have not been hit with a PSR charge this week after the Premier League confirmed all clubs had abided by their rules, if the Reds fail to qualify for the Champions League, their finances will remain tight. Mainoo, Garnacho and Rashford are all considered to be smart sales as they represent ‘pure profit’ thanks to being products of the United academy.
Mainoo and Rashford have only ever known United while Garnacho moved to the Reds from Atletico for a nominal fee in 2020. This report comes after MEN Sport confirmed last week that four players had their ‘untouchable’ status at Old Trafford revoked.
In the summer, when Erik ten Hag was in charge, Mainoo, Garnacho, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund were the only players that United would not entertain bids for. However, that position has now changed in the new Ruben Amorim era.
Mainoo’s future at United is currently thought to be hazy at best with the Reds having left the midfielder unhappy with their most recent contract offer. The club does insist that they want Mainoo to stay in Manchester and they are not looking to force him out.
