Manchester United has aimed a cheeky dig at Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson after the teams drew 2-2 in the Premier League over the weekend. The Scotland captain played the full 90 minutes at Anfield.
Posting on Twitter/X on Monday, Manchester United advertised its white third shirt with a picture of Robertson pulling on the one Amad Diallo was wearing on Sunday. The Ivorian winger gave the Liverpool ace a tough time.
“Everyone wants our third shirt,” the caption read, along with a winking face emoji. Diallo scored the equalizing goal when he got in front of Robertson to beat the Liverpool man to a low cross at the far post.

Jamie Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports post-match, suggested that Liverpool might need to buy a new left-back this month to ensure that it wins the Premier League title. “The big worry for me now is Liverpool are starting to concede goals and chances,” he said.
“I still think Liverpool are the best team in this league, they’ve got more goals in this team and attacking talent than Arsenal. If you’re Arsenal watching that, the thing that would give you a lift is that Liverpool didn’t win, and you’re seeing Liverpool concede goals and chances.
“People say Arsenal need to sign a goal scorer; Liverpool need to sign a full-back in January — a left-back. Trent was poor today; Conor Bradley came in. I think Robertson — absolute legend, love him to bits — is just hanging on.
“[Kostas] Tsimikas isn’t quite at the standard to come replace him. If Liverpool could get a left-back in January, that would put them in a strong position to go and win the league.”
Liverpool.com says: The Manchester United post was nothing more than a harmless joke! As for Carragher’s comments, left-back might become a priority for Liverpool in 2025, but the chances of it happening in January seem slim. One of Robertson or Tsimikas would have to leave to free up space for someone else to come in to play that position.
