Manchester Airport has warned passengers that flight schedules may be impacted by “delays” as the runways reopen following snowfall overnight.
The airport was forced to close its runways at around 1.40am this morning, Tuesday January 7, to clear the snow, before reopening them by 5am.
Those travelling today are urged to check with their airlines on the status of their flight. Passengers are warned to allow more time to get to the airport and plan their journey carefully.

In a statement posted on X, Manchester Airport said: “Our runways remain open, but some arrivals and departures may still be subject to delays as a result of the earlier closure due to heavy snow in the early hours of the morning.
“Passengers due to travel today are advised to check with their airlines for the latest information regarding their flights.
“We also recommend that all passengers should plan their travel to the airport, allow extra time, make sure they are dressed for the weather and pack supplies for their journey, including snacks and a phone charger.
“The safety of our passengers is always our top priority and we thank you for your patience, and all our teams for their hard work in getting our runways open again.”
Liverpool John Lennon airport was also forced to close its runway this morning due to snowfall. It has since reopened but has warned passengers of potential delays.
