Actor Martin Clunes left This Morning presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary red-faced as he opened up on the constant deaths on his farm.
The 63-year-old appeared on the daytime show to discuss his new drama, Out There, which will premiere on ITV on January 19th. Sharing his thoughts on the thriller, Martin was also quizzed on his personal life and the current status of his farm.
In 2007, Martin and his wife purchased a 130-acre farm in Beaminster, Dorset, called Higher Meerhay. The farm, which Martin described as a “rubbish zoo”, is home to cows, sheep, and chickens.
But as he described the difficulties he often encounters with his animals, Martin left presenters Alison and Dermot stunned. He said: “Well, we started with a load of sheep. They’re annoying!”

Dermot asked: “What’s the most annoying thing about farming sheep?” The actor replied: “Lambs are nice, they’re fun and they play. But then they grow into sheep and they’re charmless. And they die for a pass time. Anything going!”
Martin went on to describe a particular ordeal and said: “I had a ram once who just lent up against the fence, like that and went, ‘I’m going to die now.’ And that’s where he was, that’s where I found him. Leant up against the fence dead. Idiot!”

While a third penned: “He’ll always be Gary Strang to me. I adore Martin Clunes.”
In his new ITV thriller, Out There, Martin plays farmer Nathan Williams who is confronted with dark forces that begin to trickle through his rural community.
Written by Manhunt writer and director duo Ed Whitmore and Marc Evans, Martin will embody a man grieving the death of his wife who passed away two years prior.
Speaking about the new drama, Martin previously said in a statement: “I’m very happy to be working with Marc Evans and Ed Whitmore again after the success of Manhunt. Out There couldn’t be more different from Doc Martin. It’s pretty dark, but definitely a story worth telling.”
This Morning airs Mondays-Fridays from 10am on ITV1.
