A ‘MARVELLOUS’ Padgate woman who danced her way through life will celebrate her 100th birthday this weekend.
Violet Davis, who is from Padgate, was born on January 12, 1925, and is one of seven children.
After she left school at 14, she went on to work at Bennetts Shirt Works before moving on to Richmond’s during the Second World War.
She later left to raise her three children in the house next door to where she was raised with her husband, Fred, in the 1940s.
Violet is extremely close with her sisters, and remarkably was still going dancing with them until the age of 91.

“She’s always been close with her sisters, they used to go sequence dancing at various places in Warrington,” said Violet’s daughter, Katherine
“She had to stop when she had a hip replacement – but she was still dancing up until that point.”
Now, Violet is the matriarch of a huge family, with four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
“She’s very quiet, she’s not outgoing but she is with people she knows,” said Katherine.
“She’s always been a family person; she’s always helped with the grandchildren.”
Although you might think there is a secret to making it to your 100th birthday, Violet doesn’t seem to think there is.

“People always ask her what her secret is, but she says it’s nothing – she doesn’t have one,” said Katherine.
“But I think really, she’s enjoyed her dancing, and she’s had a good family around her.
“It’s lovely to think that she’s got to 100, she’s still marvellous – she really is.”
Violet will celebrate her birthday on the weekend with friends and family members – some of whom she has no idea will be attending.
“She’s really looking forward to it and to seeing the family,” said Katherine.
“It’ll be a surprise for some of the family that are going to be there. It’ll be a nice surprise.”
