Greater Manchester has seen dramatic weather conditions to kick off 2025. Downpours led to severe flooding on New Year’s Day, before a bitter cold snap and heavy snow led to frequent disruption last week.
But conditions are changing today (January 13). Temperatures will be milder this week, according to the Met Office. After a sub-zero deep freeze last week, Greater Manchester is waking up to temperatures at around 4C today.
The region is forecast for cloudy and overcast conditions throughout the day, with spells of light rain expected this evening. Highs of between 6C and 7C are expected in Greater Manchester.

Overnight lows of between 5C and 6C are forecast by the Met Office. Conditions could warm up further on Tuesday with highs of 10C currently forecast and further overcast conditions, with spells of mist and light rain for some.
There is a similar forecast throughout the UK following the cold snap, with a warning that thawing ice could lead to localised flooding in some areas of the country. Greg Dewhurst, meteorologist for the Met Office, said: “Cloudy and patchy rain are moving in from the Atlantic and winds will turn south-westerly, bringing in milder air.”
The UK Health Security Agency’s cold weather health alert remains in place until midday on Tuesday, following the recent deep freeze. An amber alert is in force – meaning NHS services could face additional strain, while a rise in deaths among the elderly and vulnerable is likely due to the weather.
