More snow, ice and rain warnings have been put in place across Greater Manchester by the Met Office. Forecasters have issued multiple severe alerts for the region and other parts of the UK for Monday (January 6).
Heavy snow already fell across Greater Manchester on Sunday (January 5) as the region was covered by two severe weather warnings. Two Met Office amber snow warnings were put in place throughout Sunday, after coming into force on Saturday.
An amber snow and ice warning was in force from 6pm on Saturday (January 4) until 12pm on Sunday (January 5), with a second in place until 11.59pm on Sunday, covering the northern stretches of Greater Manchester and much of northern England.

In a new update, Met Office forecasters revealed a snow and ice yellow warning was to be put in place from midnight on Monday until 12pm, with a further rain warning in place until 6am.
It comes after the Environment Agency issued two alerts which outline the risk of potential flooding overnight on Sunday, covering parts of Stockport, Sale, Stretford, Altrincham, Urmston, Cheadle, Wilmslow and Gatley.
The region already woke up to a blanket of snow on Sunday morning, with roads closed and multiple delays and cancellations to flights to and from Manchester Airport amid the cold weather blast.
Woodhead Pass and Snake Pass, which connect Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire, were shut, while rail operators issued ‘do not travel’ warnings and Manchester Airport shut its runways as flights were hit by delays.
For Monday’s rain warning, the Met Office said: “Heavy rain and thawing snow leading to some flooding in places. Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer. Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.”
A second yellow snow and ice warning, covering all of Greater Manchester and much of the north, read: “Further snow in places, along with icy stretches, leading to some disruption, especially to travel.
“Some roads and railways affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. Icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.”
