MP announces 30 public events across West Cumbria

The Whitehaven and Workington MP has announced a programme of 30 public events taking place across West Cumbria.

The programme, by MP Josh MacAlister, includes events in 20 different towns and villages, from Flimby to Drigg, and consists of regular coffee mornings, drop-ins, street surgeries, and public meetings.

It includes monthly coffee mornings and drop-ins in Whitehaven and in Workington on the last Friday of every month.

The first event of the year was held on Saturday in Distington, with 20 residents coming along to a coffee morning to hear from their MP and share their views on everything from energy bills to speeding on local roads.

Mr MacAlister said: “I promised to be a visible and accessible MP.

“In addition to being able to get in touch with me and my team anytime by e-mail, phone, text or post, I also hold regular events right across West Cumbria to give people the chance to hear about my work, hold me to account and share any concerns they want to raise with me.

“I’ve announced my programme of events right up to the end of April, which includes 30 events in 20 towns and villages.

“I encourage any residents who need help, or who just want to hear what I’m working on on behalf of our community, to come along to one in your area and find out more.

“You’ll be made very welcome and you’ll get a cup of tea.”

All events are open to constituents, but registration is required for security, to manage capacity, and to verify that attendees are constituents.

Residents can register to attend by visiting joshmacalister.uk/meetjosh, or by calling the constituency office on 01946 458 023 and leaving your name, number, and full address.
