Navi Mumbai: SIES College Students Riding Triple Seat On Scooty Hit Dumper At Jasai Bridge; 1 Dead, 2 Injured

Two days after three students of SIES college, who were reportedly travelling triple seat on a two wheeler, met with an accident at Jasai bridge, the rider boy succumbed to the injuries on Sunday. The scooty which the deceased boy identified as Aayan Aafan Nerekar (18) was riding, dashed against a dumper that was ahead of them. The two other friends- Shruti Chaudhary (18) and Gautam Mrugan (18)- who had accompanied Nerekar are said to be stable with minor injuries.

The incident happened on Friday around 4.15 pm when the trio, after college were going towards Uran. “We have not yet recorded the statement of the other two students so we are not sure where they were going,” senior police inspector Jitendra Misal from Uran Police Station said.

According to police, all three students were studying in the third year of B Com from SIES College in Nerul. The deceased boy Nerekar, is a resident of Uran and there are chances that they were heading to his home. “As of now we have registered a case of accidental death. On the day of accident, we had detained the dumper driver and made him go through medical test and he came out clean. Prima facie, the dumper driver is not responsible for the death and the scooty had dashed from behind,” Misal added.

Following the accident, Nerekar was admitted at MGM, VAshi hospital wherein he underwent multiple surgeries and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.

According to police, Nerekar had not worn helmet and the police are scanning through cctv footages to understand if the scooty was overspeeding following which further case would be registered.
