Manchester United-linked Conrad Harder has previously admitted he has been compared to Reds striker Rasmus Hojlund.
United have been heavily linked with Sporting forward Viktor Gyokeres, particularly since the arrival of Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford in November. Under Amorim, Gyokeres has transformed himself into one of the world’s best strikers and played a key role in their Portuguese league title win last term.
But recent reports in Spain have claimed that the Reds have shown interest in Harder. The Danish star has scored nine goals for Sporting so far this season, having joined from Nordsjaelland last summer on a five-year deal.

And Harder has previously opened up on comparisons with Denmark teammate and current Reds striker Hojlund.
“People compare a lot, especially with (Manchester United’s Danish forward Rasmus) Hojlund, who is also scoring goals now, but I don’t want to be one of them. I just want to be my own (man). That is the way I think,” he told the Athletic back in November.
Harder arrived in Portugal for a reported fee of €19million (around £15m) with Amorim claiming at the time that a Premier League club offered more money. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano later claimed that the club in question was Brighton.
“There was one Premier League club ready to pay higher fee than us for Conrad Harder,” Amorim said in September whilst manager of Sporting. “They were also open to let the player stay at Nordsjaelland until 2025 on loan, but he decided to join Sporting.”
United will not spend heavily in Janaury, if at all, due to PSR constraints but player sales would boost their current financial position significantly ahead of a likely rebuild in the summer.
