Police release images after Metrolink worker assaulted on tram

Police have issued to images of a man they wish to speak to after a Metrolink worker was assaulted. Greater Manchester Police says the member of staff was assaulted on the line between Oldham and Rochdale in the evening rush hour.

The incident took place at around 6pm on January 3, 2025. Two images have been published on social media this morning (January 16) in connection with the incident.

GMP wants to speak to the man, who could be a key witness in the investigation. The man is seen on a Metrolink tram in one of the images.

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to come forward as soon as possible. A GMP Oldham spokesperson said: “We are looking to speak to this individual following an assault of a Metrolink staff member between the Oldham and Rochdale line on 03/01/2025 at around 6pm.”
