Police have issued an update following reports of a woman being held in a car and assaulted. Officers were searching for the woman and the driver of a dark-coloured hatchback which was seen at the junction of Rostherne Road and Garners Lane, in Stockport, early on Saturday morning (December 28).
Greater Manchester Police received a report of a woman, who tried to leave the vehicle, being dragged back inside before being assaulted. According to the report, the car headed towards Davenport railway station, and police believed the car may have left Greater Manchester.
In an update issued today (December 31), GMP confirmed it had been unable to identify the woman, the alleged suspect or the vehicle involved. No further reports were made about the incident to police.

GMP says the report was made to police ‘in good faith’. Detectives will reconsider the case should any further information come to light.
PC Natalie Jamieson said: “It’s important that when we get serious reports like this, we exhaust all possible lines of enquiry. We have spoken to those in the local area and trawled all available CCTV, ring doorbell, road camera and dashcam footage.

“Unfortunately, all enquiries have proven negative for identifying a victim, suspect, vehicle, or offence at this stage. We have had no further reports connected with this.
“As with all reports, should any new information come to light which would open new lines of enquiry, we will look to explore these.” The car was reportedly seen at 6.30am on Saturday.
Police released two CCTV images which may have shown a car matching the description. The woman reportedly involved was described as being white, wearing dark coloured leggings and UGG boots, while the driver was described as a white man wearing a black coat or jumper.
