Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said the club is going to become “more demanding” with Amad after he put pen to paper on a new contract at Old Trafford.
United announced on Thursday that the Ivorian had signed a new deal at Old Trafford, keeping him at the club until 2030. His previous deal was due to expire at the end of this season.
Amad, 22, has arguably been United’s best player this season, particularly since Amorim’s appointment in November. He has scored three goals and registered five assists in 12 appearances under the Portuguese chief thus far.

The former Sunderland loanee has also shown off his versatility, operating as both wing-back and a right-sided No.10. But with his long-term future now decided, Amorim is keen to push the former Atalanta man to the next level.
Amorim, speaking to United’s club website, said: “That is really clear, and we are going to be more demanding with Amad. He knows what we want to expect from him.
“Now he has a bigger responsibility because he has a long contract with a big club, so we’re going to be really demanding with him.”
Amad has stepped up in big moments for United in recent weeks, scoring the winner against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium prior to Christmas and netting a late equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend. He is now keen to write more history at Old Trafford.
Amad said: “I am really proud to have signed this new contract. I have had some incredible moments with this club already but there is so much more to come. I have huge ambitions in the game and I want to achieve history at Manchester United.”
