Robbie Williams has insisted Gary Barlow was “stitched up” in old footage shown in the Boybands Forever documentary.
In the BBC film, Robbie and members from the likes of Westlife and Five candidly opened up about their tales of success and the flipside of fame.
Having watched the documentary back, Robbie has shared his honest thoughts about what was shown, in a new interview.

Addressing a particular moment, the 50-year-old believes his former bandmate may have been perceived in the wrong way.
“Yeah, I thought it was really well done. I was happy that they didn’t stitch me up,” he told The Face. “But there was a bit where I think Gaz got stitched up.
“[In the old footage] Gaz is doing a mock bravado bit, talking about being ‘the big star in my village. People knew that I was going to go on to do things’.
“And it’s sold in the documentary that he’s arrogant, but I know he was joking in that moment. But, you know – the magic of TV!”.

Within the film, Robbie opened up about his true feelings towards Gary and the band’s former manager Nigel Martin-Smith.
Nigel claimed that the Angels singer had made him out to be “evil” and had blamed him for some of his behaviour, which included taking drugs.
Robbie said his former manager should’ve been more aware about his emotions, and said he turned “feral” due to the workplace being “toxic”.
Addressing his feelings towards “Nigel’s cash cow” Gary, the singer additionally recalled being “resentful” of his standing in the band.
Robbie said: “At the time it was like metaphorically speaking I couldn’t trust him to not play the right key. And he couldn’t trust me either.”
In his latest interview, the singer said he and Nigel are yet to discuss each other’s claims against each other in person.
He has however reached out to him via Instagram in a lengthy statement, in which he said: “I love you for what you did for me, but I didn’t like you.”
As for Gary, he and Robbie put their ups and downs behind them quite some time ago and they have since reunited to sing together.
