Royal Jordanian resumes direct flights to Mumbai and Delhi after 10 years, connecting India to Amman | X
Mumbai: Royal Jordanian airline will resume its direct flights to India after a period of over ten years. The airline has announced to start direct flights from Jordan’s capital Amman to Mumbai and Delhi this year.
Royal Jordanian, the flag carrier of Jordan, has announced that it will start its direct flights to India after a period of more than 10 years. The airline had stopped its services to India in 2014 with the last flight to Mumbai in September and to Delhi in October. However after a hiatus of over 10 years, the airline has announced its return to India.
Royal Jordanian announced that it will start the flight from Jordan’s capital city Amman to Mumbai from April 17 and to Delhi from September 17. Both the routes are expected to operate four days a week, connecting India to over 45 international destinations via Amman. Through the ‘Explore Jordan’ initiative, Royal Jordanian also aims to showcase Jordan’s ancient wonders like Petra and the Dead Sea.
RJ will operate these routes with the Airbus A320 Neo aircraft which will feature dual-class configurations, in-flight entertainment service and WiFi services. It will also introduce 19 new aircraft including A320neo and Boeing 787 aircraft to its fleet in the upcoming financial year.
Karim Makhlouf, chief commercial officer at Royal Jordanian Airlines, said, “The launch of our new routes marks a significant milestone in our strategy to promote Jordan as a tourism destination for the Indian market. Through these routes, we aim to showcase the unique experiences Jordan offers while positioning Royal Jordanian as a boutique airline that promotes Jordan as a boutique destination. The new direct connection between Jordan and India will also increase the bilateral trade and economic link between both countries”
