Ruud van Nistelrooy will return to Old Trafford for the first time since leave the club next month, with the date for Manchester United’s FA Cup fourth round clash against Leicester City now confirmed.
The match will be the third meeting of the two teams this season, following the clashes in both the Carabao Cup and the Premier League. Those two games came during Van Nistelrooy’s interim spell in charge of United, with him overseeing two wins over the Foxes.
But this time he will be in the opposing dugout as he looks to get one over his former team. The Dutchman joined Leicester as manager just weeks after leaving his role at Old Trafford following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach.

The FA have now confirmed that the match between United and Leicester will be played on Friday, February 7 with kick-off at 8pm. The game will be shown live on ITV1 and ITVX.
United booked their place in the fourth round of the competition via a penalty shootout win over Arsenal last weekend following a 1-1 draw. The game saw United have to play with 10-men for half an hour of normal time and the full extra time after Diogo Dalot’s red card.
It was a slightly easier passage for Van Nistelrooy and Leicester. The Foxes overcame Championship side Queens Park Rangers with a 6-2 home win.
Following the FA Cup clash, United will again come up against Van Nistelrooy and Leicester in the Premier League just a few weeks later. United are scheduled to travel to the King Power Stadium on Saturday, March 15.
