Ryanair has warned passengers that they could face ‘disruption’ to flights today, January 1, due to high winds.
That airline said that affected passengers would be informed, and that all customers travelling today should check the status of their flight. It comes as several Met Office weather warnings are in place across the UK.
In a statement on its website, Ryanair said: “Potential disruptions to/from the UK, Wednesday January 1, due to high winds. Affected passengers will be notified and any passengers travelling to/from the UK on Wed 01 Jan should check their Ryanair app for the latest updates on their flight.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for rain and wind across England and Wales. A yellow warning for wind is in force until 3pm, covering the South, the Midlands and Wales, while a warning for rain is in place until 11am, covering most of Wales, the North West and central Yorkshire.
Greater Manchester was battered by heavy rains overnight into the new year, leading to travel disruption. Several roads and car parks have been flooded, while rail services have also been impacted. TransPennine Express also issued a ‘do not travel warning’ for customers before midday.
Posting on X last night, Manchester Airport urged passengers to check their flight status before travelling. In a statement the airport said: “UK weather forecasts indicate the possibility of some unsettled conditions over the next few days.
“Winter weather can be unpredictable, and our teams are closely monitoring conditions to ensure our operations run smoothly. Our services remain unaffected, but we do recommend passengers check directly with their airline for any updates and stay informed about public transport, which may also be impacted by adverse weather. Wising all our passengers a safe and happy new year.”
