“Severe frosts” warning as temperatures fall below zero in Herefordshire

A WARNING of “severe frosts” has been issued as temperatures fell below zero again overnight.

Herefordshire is waking up to temperatures in the minus figures this morning, with conditions not set to warm up until next week.

The Met Office said Herefordshire will see “sunny spells by day. Severe frosts overnight” over the next few days.

Met Office forecasters said we will see a frosty start with freezing fog patches stubbornly clearing. A few wintry showers will push into the north, while it will be brighter through the afternoon with sunny spells and a maximum temperature of 4 °C.

Any showers will fade through this evening to leave a dry night, with conditions turning very cold under widespread clear skies with a severe frost, freezing fog patches and icy stretches developing, and a minimum temperature of -5 °C.

Friday will see a bright start away from lingering freezing fog. Cloud will build throughout the day with isolated outbreaks of rain, and perhaps hill snow, in the southwest, the Met Office said. Another cold day, with a maximum temperature of 2 °C.

The Met Office said it will be rather cloudy on Saturday with patchy rain possible. Sunnier spells on Sunday and Monday after freezing fog clears. Conditions will be generally cold over the weekend but turning milder into the new week.
