Liverpool has been linked with the Greek forward Stefanos Tzimas this week with various claims emerging regarding the 19-year-old striker, who is currently on loan at Nurnberg in the second division in Germany.

But the Reds have no interest in pursuing a move for the $27m (£21m/€25m)-rated player, according to The Athletic. On loan from PAOK until the end of the season, Brighton has also been linked with the teenager.

A move to the south coast side would appear much more logical for Tzimas to be guaranteed more minutes. It would be a substantial jump up for him to move from Bundesliga 2 straight to the top of the Premier League.

Liverpool has six senior forwards at the moment with Diogo Jota coming off the bench to score a vital equalizer against Nottingham Forest yesterday. Luis Diaz had begun the game playing as a number nine, while Darwin Nunez was suspended.

“I think you saw today again that I can still strengthen the team or impact the game with the substitutes I have on the bench,” Arne Slot said during his post-match press conference when he was asked about transfers this month. “Not for the first time this season, these players have helped us, that I could bring in.

“If you look at today, like I said, I couldn’t have asked for more. I said to them at half-time don’t get frustrated, you will not get many chances, probably the game is going to be slow, but just keep focusing on what you have to do and hopefully you will get two or three chances and let’s try to score from that. I was completely wrong because they created chance after chance after chance.”

Liverpool.com says: Without someone leaving, it would be difficult for Liverpool to bring in another attacking player. Quite simply, there is not enough room. In the summer, that might change, but for now, six is enough.

And even by the end of the season, and even if Nunez was to move on, Liverpool would need a guaranteed elite-level number nine. Tzimas might become that, but there is no way of knowing for sure that he is that right now.
