TWO men have been charged with theft after police discovered a car full of ‘high value’ items stolen in Northwich.
Constantin Stanculete and Timotei Constantinescu were both charged with theft after a tip-off from the public lead to their arrest.
This came after police were made aware of a gang of men acting suspiciously around a silver Volkswagen estate car at 2.28pm on Chester Way on Thursday, January 2.
When they saw officers were watching them, the men bolted on foot, but with police in pursuit.
After a search of the area, police caught up with two of the men who they said were ‘out of breath’.
Searching the car, police found more than 100 high value items which they believe were shoplifted from several shops in Northwich.
Officers also found a kitchen knife, which they described as ‘pretty nasty’, and the two men were arrested and taken in for questioning, and the Volkswagen was seized.
On Friday, January 3, 32-year-old Stanculete, of Whitmore Street, Walsall, was charged with three counts of theft from a shop.
Constantinescu, 21, of no fixed address, was also charged with three counts of theft from a shop, and both were remanded in custody.
They will appear before magistrates in Warrington on Saturday, January 4.
