The ‘best James Bond film’ that won an Oscar to air on TV tonight

A James Bond film that was dubbed a 10/10 by fans is on TV tonight, just in time to ring in the New Year.

First released in 2021, the Daniel Craig flick will air on ITV1 on New Year’s Eve at 8:45 pm and is available to stream on ITVX.

No Time to Die, which marked the end of Craig’s 007 era, also stars Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas and Léa Seydoux.

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, viewers follow the seasoned spy shortly after he has left the MI6.

However, Bond is soon back to work when an old friend recruits him to take on a final high-profile mission.

Following its debut, the action flick grossed a staggering $774 million worldwide and received critical praise for sending off the lead actor in style.

Rotten Tomatoes awarded it a fresh 83% rating, with the critics consensus stating that although it is not the “sleekest or most daring” film in the franchise, “No Time to Die concludes Daniel Craig’s franchise tenure in satisfying style.”

The Academy Awards similarly lauded the thriller and awarded Billie Eilish a Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures Oscar, for her song named after the film.

Moviegoers were on the same page as critics, with some crowning it the ‘best Bond film.’

Writing an IMDB review titled: ‘The best Bond film for all the reasons I never expected!’ One fan gushed: “Utterly brilliant from start to finish, threw everything you didn’t expect at us, Bond showed a completely different side to himself and came out of his shell – never a dull moment and has you on the edge of your seat from start to finish! 10/10.”

Another person wrote: “We watched this at the cinema today. I’ve been a life long fan of Bond but I have to say, Craig’s performances and portrayal of 007 have been brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. It was the swan song that he deserved, that his loyal fans deserved. The sadness, the wit, action and legendary Bond appeal for all generations to watch.”

While a third chimed in: “This film has it all and is the best of the best and a fitting end to DC’s tenure. This is from a person who has been Bond obsessed for 48 of his 56 years.”
