UFC fighter-turned-professional boxer Darren Till is set to face Anthony Taylor on 18 January after the cancellation of his boxing match with Tommy Fury.

Co-Op Live will still host the event despite Fury’s withdrawal after Till threatened to kick his opponent if he was behind in the bout. The announcement came on social media earlier this month.

“I can’t believe I’m writing this, but I am now not fighting Darren Till on 18 January,” Fury posted. “For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is losing the fight, he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.”

“I am a professional boxer; I have been out of the ring for over a year and wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp.

“We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.”

Boxing manager Lee Eaton confirmed Till’s commitment to the January fight date via X, setting the record straight: “Just to clarify, Darren was asked to sell the fight, and he did—DT even offered to forfeit his entire purse if he broke professional boxing rules—Misfits Boxing have confirmed Darren Till will still be fighting on 18 January.”

With Fury no longer in the picture, Till will box against Anthony Taylor, an American who currently holds three wins and three losses from six fights. The former MMA fighter is yet to make his professional debut inside the boxing ring; however, he did participate in an exhibition match against Mohammad Mutie back in July, securing a victory via technical knockout in the second round despite the decisive punch landing on the back of his opponent’s head.
