Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing weeks after losing to Oleksandr Usyk for the second time.

Fury, 36, made the claim in a short video uploaded to his Instagram account. “Thanks; it’s been a blast,” Fury captioned the post.

“Thanks to everyone who helped out along the way! Happy new year. Jesus is king now and forever.”

The boxer has previously announced his retirement multiple times. However, this latest proclamation comes after Usyk beat the former unified heavyweight champion in their much-awaited rematch in December. The Manchester-born boxer lost that fight by unanimous decision months after coming up short in their bout to become the division’s undisputed champion.

Fury’s announcement appears to end all hope of a fight with Anthony Joshua in what would widely be considered the biggest-ever British boxing event. There was also recently speculation that Fury could finally rematch Wladimir Klitschko if the Ukrainian came out of retirement.
