Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will hold a press conference on Friday at 4. 30 pm to inform about the status of the work of the Balasaheb Thackeray National Memorial that will come up at the Mumbai Mayor’s official residence in Dadar.
Currently, the first phase of the work is ongoing.
In the first phase, a museum is being constructed at the old bungalow of the Mumbai Mayor by upgrading the heritage building. This memorial will be a sustainable and energy-efficient structure and will include an administration building, entrance block, a heritage enrichment and preservation centre, an interpretation centre etc. The structure will have state-of-the-art construction technology to build green compliance structure close to the sea, which respects heritage but also forges a new architecture.
The maximum portion of this building is underground, and comprise a state-of-the-art museum, archive, auditorium, buffer tank, underground tank, sewage treatment plant and rain water harvesting tank etc.
The second phase will include information and technology-related elements such as hardware and support services, technology, lasers how, digital mapping projection, storytelling, film, virtual reality, audiovisual elements, technical elements, etc.
In July, Thackeray had said that the memorial construction is taking time as precautions need to be taken at the site, which is located just next to the Arabian Sea.
Meanwhile, in other political development, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde claimed that the state has already shown which Shiv Sena is the “real” one and accused Thackeray of betraying the ideology of his father Balasaheb, news agency ANI reported.
“During the Vidhan Sabha elections, the state has shown which Shiv Sena is real. This is just a trailer, the full film is yet to come out. We will fight the upcoming Nagar Nigam (civic corporation) elections in the state with full strength. UBT (the faction headed by Thackeray) should think about why their party workers are quitting. We are going ahead with development issues and welcome all workers. Those who betrayed the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray have been shown their place by the people,” said Shinde while addressing a press conference on Thursday.
Earlier, Nandekumar Ghodile from the Uddhav Thackeray faction, along with his wife Anita, switched to the Shinde-headed Shiv Sena on December 3 in the Deputy CM’s presence. Ghodile, a former Mayor of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, was one of the prominent members to make the switch.
The Mahayuti alliance, comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and Nationalist Congress Party, has turned its focus to the upcoming local body elections after securing a massive win in the recently concluded Assembly polls, ANI reported.
Meanwhile, Shinde’s Shiv Sena, which is a key partner in the ruling Mahyuti alliance, has said that the seat-sharing formula for the local body elections should mirror that of the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. They emphasised that the seat allocation should be based on the merits of the candidates, with sitting seats remaining with the respective party.
