UPGRADED flood warnings remain in place in Warrington, having been issued in the early hours of the morning.
Yesterday, Sunday, saw flood alerts put in place in parts of the town including Bewsey, Dallam, Burtonwood and Orford, among others.
But in the early hours of this morning, Monday, four more severe flood warnings were issued – covering Sankey Brook in parts of Dallam, Gemini, Callands, Lymm and Warburton.
These read: “Rising river levels are expected to cause flooding overnight. Flooding is expected from 3am today, Monday.
“Flooding is forecast to affect locations near to Sankey Brook and River Bollin, with low-lying land and roads expected to be most affected.
“This is particularly around Chepstow Close, Colwyn Close, properties on and around Higham Avenue, Tavlin Avenue, Hodgkinson Avenue, Marshall Avenue, Hawleys Lane and Mullen Close.
“It is also particularly around commercial and retail property off Europa Boulevard at Gemini Industrial Park.
“In addition, properties around Bollington Mill, Bollington Hall farm, Lymm Road adjacent to Agden Brook, land adjacent to Manchester Ship Canal and River Bollin in Heatley, Reddish Hall, Rushes Avenue, Birch Brook Road, Chaise Meadow and Old Mill Lane.
“We are closely monitoring the situation. This message will be updated by 11am today, Monday, or as the situation changes.”
Other areas covered by the existing flood alert are: Bewsey, Dallam, Callands, Gemini, Burtonwood, Longford, Orford, Cinnamon Brow, Padgate, Howley, Woolston Croft, Culcheth, Glazebury, Sankey Bridges, Great Sankey, Penketh, Warburton, Heatley and Lymm.
This states: “River levels are rising due to rainfall. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near Sankey Brook, with low-lying land and roads expected to be most affected.

“More rainfall is forecast throughout today. We are closely monitoring the situation and are monitoring rainfall and river levels.
“Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near watercourses, and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
“This message will be updated by 11am today, or as the situation changes.
“The Sankey catchment includes Black, Barkers, Windle and Whittle brooks and their tributaries.”
A number of roads in usual hotspots are experiencing flooding this morning, with people urged to exercise caution.
Broomfields Leisure Centre in Appleton has also experienced a roof leak, with LiveWire confirming that the upstairs gym and changing rooms are closed today.
Meanwhile, a yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in place across Warrington, up to midday.
This reads: “Further snow over the hills of northern England and North Wales is giving 5cm to 10cm in places this morning.
“Rain is also turning increasingly to snow at lower levels, particularly over north-east Wales and the northern parts of the Midlands, where 2cm to 5cm could accumulate.
“Snow will ease again later in the morning. Icy stretches are likely to develop quite widely, making for some difficult travelling conditions.”
